Thieves rob retired police officer of N.dollars 35 000 cash
OSHAKATI, 11 OCT (NAMPA) – A 60-year-old retired police officer and his wife were robbed of about N.dollars 35 000 which was contained in a bag at Ohangwena Town in the Ohangwena Region on Tuesday.
The daily crime report issued by Head of the Namibian Police Public Relations, Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi on Wednesday stated that the incident happened at around 14h17, behind Ponhofi Secondary School.
It is alleged that two suspects were involved in the crime in which no arrests have so far been made.
The money was not recovered either and police investigations continue.
Meanwhile, in the same region, a bag containing 5.2 kilograms of cannabis, valued at N.dollars 15 000 was recovered from a water dam after it was reportedly thrown in by an unknown male suspect who failed to sneak into Namibia at the Katwitwi Border post at Oshikango.
The incident took place on Tuesday at about 03h30.
It is alleged that the suspect threw the drugs in the water, after the border patrol guards tried to stop him, before he fired shots at them and ran back into Angola.
Police investigation continues.
