Unam lecturer commits suicide

OSHAKATI, 11 OCT (NAMPA) A 44-year-old Health Sciences lecturer at the University of Namibia reportedly shot himself with a shotgun in his bedroom at Oshuungu Village in the Omusati Region at about 06h00 on Wednesday morning.
A daily crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force on Wednesday confirmed the incident, adding that no suicide note was found and no foul play is suspected.
The deceased was identified as Tshifugula Nyanyukweni Pandeni.
His next of kin were informed. Police investigations continue.
In an unrelated matter, two people, including the driver, lost their lives at the Henties Bay/Ugab gate on Tuesday, after the vehicle they were travelling in overturned, because of an apparent tyre puncture.
It is alleged that the driver of the sedan lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the road and overturned.
There were three passengers including a two-year-old baby on-board.
The other passenger and the baby sustained serious injuries and were transported to the Swakopmund State Hospital for medical treatment.
The baby is reportedly in a critical condition while the other passenger is in a stable condition.
The deceased were identified as 26-year-old David Byl (driver) and 45-year-old Matheus Haufiku (passenger).
Their next of kin have been informed. Police investigations continue.
Meanwhile, another case of suicide was reported on Tuesday, when the body of 35-year-old Nekwaya Bernhard Ngenowahala was discovered hanging from a plank, with a rope around his neck, inside a shebeen at Onangula Village in the Omusati Region.
The body was found at around 07h30 and it is suspected that the deceased committed suicide.
No suicide note was found and his next of kin were informed. Police investigations continue.
