N.dollars 18 000 theft at Tsumeb Diesel-Electric
ONGWEDIVA, 12 OCT (NAMPA) – An unknown person stole N.dollars 18 000 from the Diesel-Electric Company in Tsumeb after cutting the company’s safe door open with a grinder between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
Deputy Commissioner Naomi Katjiua of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Oshikoto Region said in a regional crime report issued on Thursday that nobody was arrested in connection with the incident as of Thursday afternoon, and police investigations continue.
It is alleged that the suspect first cut the fence of the company, climbed on top of the building and then cut open the roof with yet unknown object/s to gain entry into the building.
The suspect also cut the building’s alarm system in the process.
The incident is believed to have happened between 17h00 on Wednesday and 07h00 on Thursday.
In an unrelated incident, Oshikoto NamPol on Wednesday arrested a 46-year-old man alleged to have raped a 12-year-old girl at the Oniiwe village in the Oshikoto Region last Sunday.
“It is alleged that the suspect had sexual intercourse with the minor under coercive circumstances in her sleeping room,” Katjiua said.
She pointed out that the suspect is married to the victim’s aunt, and went to the victim’s room pretending to assist her with browsing the internet on his mobile phone while his wife was in their bedroom.
The suspect was due to appear before the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
